As others have observed, this guide has hotel and restaurant descriptions only in Spanish in the Spain portion and only in Portuguese in the Portugal portion. I happen to speak both languages, so I could read the text comfortably. For anyone else, this eccentricity would have to be maddening.Also, it's finicky on recommendations. There are fine hotels in Lisbon whose good reviews one can locate on Tripadvisor but that you won't find listed in this guide.Nevertheless, here is how to use this guide if you don't speak Spanish and/or Portuguese, and I would recommend it for this sole purpose. It's how I used it while traveling in Portugal and Spain this winter:You're in Portugal. You didn't book every hotel in advance from your home country. (I recommend not booking all hotels in advance, or you'll be stuck with an itinerary you might want to change while on the road. Just book the one that you'll need to get to from the airport on arrival.) You've rented a car or will be taking the train around the country. You'd like to discover out-of-the-way places. You look at the maps in this guide. You discover there's (for example, and I actually did this) an historic hotel (pousada) in Vila Viçosa, Portugal, near the Spanish border. You can't read the review in the guide but, knowing how picky Michelin is about recommending any hotel, you think it identifies a promising stay. You go online, find the hotel, learn more about it, and go there.If you don't want to use it for that purpose and don't read Spanish for Spain or Portuguese for Portugal, I'd avoid buying it. The Michelin road map for Portugal, sold separately, is, however, very useful.

This 2016 Michelin guide for Spain & Portugal is an excellent resource for travel throughout Spain. However, it was advertised as being in English and when I received the guide it turned out that it was all in Spanish. I already have the 2015 guide which is in Spanish and the only reason I purchased this was it claimed it is in English. I will be returning the book.

Yes, it is in Spanish but all of the redbooks are. Very easy to navigate. I have used red guide for years and the accuracy of the ratings is astonish ling accurate.
