This is the best paperback you can buy for King Lear. We used it at our University. It has both the original Quarto and the revised Folio, (I hope I have the order of names correct). The original version is much darker and the latter version was changed due to public morality and prudishness, in my opinion around the 1700s? I am not sure of the exact date. It probably says so in the advertisement somewhere. Anyway I bought it and it has annotations and both versions. If any of my facts or dates or timelines are incorrect, Forgive my absent minded professor mentality ;)

This is definitely one of the easier Shakespeare plays to read. The verbiage is more modern than one might find in say Romeo and Juliet, and it is still very well written.

I certainly prefer Hamlet and Macbeth, but it was Shakespeare, nonetheless! A must read for any lover of the classics.
