I can't help but feel the last edit (at least for the Kindle) was poorly planned, supervised or perhaps rushed. For example, Chapter 20's content is listed in the following order.... Ocular emergencies (True emergencies - therapy should be instituted within minutes)..... Urgent case: to be seen within the hour .....Urgent case: to be seen the same day.... Priority case: to be seen within days.... but the actual order places the section 'urgent case: to be seen within the hour' behind priority cases.I found it frustrating that there was no way to match page numbers to Kindle pages. But not all problems can be blamed on having a Kindle edition....Throughout the text, the quality of the writing was inconsistent.Telling your reader-students, the majority of whom are new to the field, go find answers elsewhere is not helpful..... (from Chapter 1 "Answers to some of the questions at the end of each chapter may be found in other parts of this book or, in some cases, only in other sources."Also not helpful: providing photo illustrations & review questions for conditions or disorders that are not explained in the book. (vernal conjunctivitis, for example) At least include a definition in the glossary.

Bought this bout one year for more on the job knowledge etc. I am going to be taking the JCAHPO Certification test soon and luckily this text is accepted as a "at home study guide". Good guidelines but if you want quick access to "quiz" questions, use the online website that comes with purchasing this book. Much much easier to find what you're looking for. Good Luck!

This book is very informative and there are lots of illustrations along the way. However, the layout and verbiage is not for beginners. The chapters are laid out in a confusing way. The authors jump from one subject to the next and it's quite hard to follow. Bring a glass of water with you when you read this book, it's dry!!

I ordered this book online because i was using the 8th edition and didnt know how much different the two editions were. to my surprise, the difference isnt much really, except for an addition of 3-4 chapters towards the end of the book in the 9th edition. Anyway, i am really happy with the purchase and order because first of all, it came to my country (all the way in the Middle East) in one piece and on time even though it was shipped out a day or two later than it was actually supposed to.the Internet access included in the text allows you to view the book online and be able to print it as well. This is a good option if you are to travel and cant take the book with you because it will obviously consume a lot of weight. otherwise, im not sure what good it will be because there is no study guide available and the only thing you can do with the online access is view your purchased books online.

I decided to get my certification for an ophthalmic assistant and decided to invest in this book to help me study for the exam. I have an older edition available to me at my job, but wanted something more up to date. A side by side comparison so far shows that most chapters in the older edition and the newest one are identical, but I am not even half way through the book. The photos and illustrations are a little better in the latest edition, and I am sure there will be some discrepancies when it discusses some of the pharmaceuticals. The price for this text book bets the JCAHPO website hands down. is way cheaper, and you get a new edition, not someone else's highlighted, used copy if you buy on Ebay or Half.com. A must for the certification exam, and also check out the Ophthobook and the book of old exams by Janice Ledford, also sold here on .

This textbook so far is very easy reading and not too hard to understand, it came in just in time for my class glad i bought it from instead of my school bookstore.

I bought this book to help me study for my ophthalmology certification. The book has great explanations and illustrations that are easy to interpret. The price is worth it because it provides detailed information about a wide variety of topics you would need to know in the ophthalmology setting. It is definitely useful to study for an upcoming certification or to have on hand as a reference in the office.

I'm not sure why this book isn't more highly recommended over some of the other texts on . It's got an exhaustive listing of all the newer technology and is completely updated. I haven't yet gone to the online site but it comes with an online subscription as well.
