I chose this book because I recognized the author's name, Jeff Augen, as I own one of his other books, "The Volatility Edge in Options Trading in Unstable Markets". The Volatility Edge in Options Trading: New Technical Strategies for Investing in Unstable MarketsWhen you read the product description for THAT book, it actually mentions Intermediate and Advanced Traders as a target audience. However, that book is so well written and full of great concepts that I was able to follow it and implement some of the strategies. I didn't even know what VIX was before the book and his standard deviations and volatility charts definitely help define the larger picture in making your own trading decisions. I can say that book paid for itself many, many times over.THIS book says it has a problem-solving approach for beginners, intermediate, advanced, etc. Basically, it leads you to believe that a novice or beginner could at least tackle the first few chapters.I consider myself a novice option trader and I've been fairly successful with simple call and put options for the past 2 years. I'm more-so fascinated by it, versus trying to replace my day job. I'm fortunate to have a work from home job and I watch CNBC every weekday and can understand the lingo.When I cracked open this book and got to the first set of questions, I had to look in the appendix to see if I missed something. Though my last college course was some 20 years ago, I recall that a problem-solving workbook would take you through the answers of each problem. Unfortunately, this book is nothing like that.
