I love the history of a different time when details meant so much more,before modern technology,when mankind depended on mankind and valor and honor meant so much more.Easy to read yet intelligently written.Even more enjoyable after seeing the real lighthouses.
I really liked this book. I can see the Lighthouse in New Haven Harbor from my window. It is a lovely sight. I remember when you could hear the foghorn through the night. That, of course is long gone, but this book brings back a very interesting time in our history.
If you have motored, sailed or paddled on Long Island Sound in Connecticut and admire the grace and beauty of these old lighthouses, you will love the stories they hold and the author's description and detailed facts regarding their origin. Not a book you need to read cover to cover, more like a reference book and fascinating accounts of early lighthouse keeping in Connecticut. I recommend!Jane Graham
