This book contains so much information on serial killers that it's hard to imagine how it is all fit into just one book!! BUT the tittle helps you understand how RJ Parker & JJ Slate were able to do just that! Serial Killers Abridged is packed full of 100 "short" (abridged) stories of 100 different serial killers! Each story talks about the killer, their life, crimes, victims & outcomes of trials!Some, we are more familiar with, such as Aileen Wuonos, Jeffery Dalhmer, The Boston Strangler & Gacy. But also included are lesser known about (to me anyway), like a self-proclaimed "witch doctor" from Indonesia or Jack Unterweger, who murdered ppl from all over the world! Plus so many more!! Another thing I like is there are also references included after many chapters so you can find even more on many of these monsters! I highly recommend this book not only for those who have been reading True Crime for years, but Especially for those that are just starting out!
A very well written work. From the time you open this book you won't be able to put it down. RJ Parker has doneall the research for you.. Go on a journey through the minds of a serial killers and the sinister deeds they committed.
Another awesome read by RJ Parker! I'm not a romance novel person. I like to read just the facts of the case. This is why I like RJ Parker's writing style. It's easy to read his books, and I learn something new with each story. Although I'm familiar with most of the serial killers in the book, there were many I had not heard of. It was interesting to read the older cases as well. I'm one of the millions of people who are infatuated with serial killers. I enjoyed reading this, and I highly recommend it to those who also like true crime. Looking forward to his next book!
If you're looking for simple background information on serial killers, RJ Parker has offered up 100 of them. This makes this book a great place to start if looking to delve deeper into the depravity of killers that have terrorized the world. While not comprehensive, this book does give you enough to figure out how to dig a bit deeper into the worlds most renown killers. I for one, am very happy to have this on my shelves. It's that good.
This is a great book I learned alot about serial killers that I never heard of plus of course all the favorite ones are in it too. It's packed full of great and interesting facts and insights. I highly recommend this book to true crime fans it's a awesome book. R.J is a great author I love his writing style this book will not disappoint.
Really grisly which is how this book started for me since I used the active table of contents to flashback and view the photos first which certainly set the mood (dark, very dark!) Surprised to find some killers associated with the photos weren't highlighted in the book, but of those that were I'd say Richard Chase and Ed Gein were by far two of the worst. I'd highlight some phrases like using human skulls as soup bowls and consuming raw animal organs but got to be even too sick for me. Frankly, for those that really enjoy these type of works I thought it might have been better to list half as many serial killers over the 445 pages so as to give an even more thorough account, but in the end it was quite a book that left a lasting impression.
This book has tons of information on many different serial killers. Many, I have never read about, and I have been reading true crime for years! I highly recommend this book for anyone that is interested in serial killers ! A short summary is given for each killer. Victims, number of victims, and information about the killer himself/herself! Definitely a book for your collection!
I would give zero stars if I could. I had to fight to get through this awful excuse of a book. Poor editing. Poor grammar. Poor everything. At times, you wonder if English is this "writers" first language. It was like I was reading reports by children. I suggest not reading this "book." Want a really good book to read?
