Ecology: Concepts And Applications
Download Free (EPUB, PDF)

Ecology: Concepts and Applications by Molles places great emphasis on helping students grasp the main concepts of ecology while keeping the presentation more applied than theoretical. An evolutionary perspective forms the foundation of the entire discussion. The book begins with the natural history of the planet, considers portions of the whole in the middle chapters, and ends with another perspective of the entire planet in the concluding chapter. Its unique organization of focusing only on several key concepts in each chapter sets it apart from other ecology texts.Users who purchase Connect receive access to the full online eBook version of the textbook.

Molles has outdone himself with this book. It presents the reader a great book for students who are not majoring in ecology and a great way to understand ecology and the different field works done in the area. The tables and organization are great. I speacially like the way the author makes a subject easy to understand and the way the tables and pictures help you to understand. It's a great book.

This book is the first science text I have ever encountered which I enjoy reading. It generally takes the form of a series of stories which the author deftly uses to illustrate ecological concepts. It's not technical enough for a serious ecology student, but I hope that many people read it to gain an appreciation for ecology without encountering some the fanaticism which had previously turned me away from the subject entirely. Thanks.

Information is REALLY badly organized, too wordy and difficult to follow. Its like verbal diarrhea. Good luck trying to study from it! Thankfully my instructor created concise notes that I could use instead. If you need this book for a class I recommend exploring other options.

Unless your professor has assigned this text, don't bother with it. I mean the book is not terrible, but it is unnecessarily wordy and not very well organized. In addition, it uses some odd examples. If you are looking for a concise review of the main concepts in ecology try "BIOS Instant Notes in Ecology. It's less than $40 and definitely useful.

To be honest, I don't recommend this book unless it is required for your class (as it was in my case). While I can appreciate the fact that the material is presented with research, the layout leaves something to be desired. I feel like the flow from topic to topic isn't very smooth which leads to sometimes confusing notes on my end. If you need this book, hopefully your professor will cover the material in a much smoother way than the text itself.

This Ecology book is a requirement for the class my son is enrolled in. It is full of information and has been an excellent aid in his studies. It offers a complete understanding of the subjects contained within. He is a Biology major and with the wealth of knowledge this book contains he is making his best grade in the sciences so far.

The book itself was good, and fulfilled my order quite quickly. Unfortunately I did not need the book, but the prices offered to rent were pretty reasonable.I gave it 3 stars due to the fulfillment, but took out 2 because i unfortunately did not need to use the book. I got more out of my lecture than the book's information given. Too vague of a book.

Every chapter was so unnecessarily long and so dry that I could barely read it. Some of the areas were interestingly written but not many. It fleshed out entirely obvious concepts too often and elaborated for what seemed like endless amounts of time unnecessarily while barely explaining some of the slightly more complex material. My rental ran out halfway through the semester and I didn't bother to renew because the book wasn't much use anyway and my professor's notes were sufficient. The book wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good either.
