Great overview of plant structure and anatomy but I can't help but give 4 stars due to Cambridge Press' lack of pictorial imagination!

This book saves my life on a regular basis.Simple, straightforward but detailed explanations of developmental processes. Barebones illustrations, much of them black and white or line drawings keep it simple. If you want amazing color images you can always google them. This book packs in a lot of information in a clear, concise way and the index is very well organized.

This book is written in very complex technical language, absolutely not suitable for anyone outside the field. The author does not bother to write summaries, generalizations or simplifications. Literally hundreds of micrographs are a minimal aid in gaining an understanding of the subject. If you want to learn all the technical terms, this book is for you. If you don't, buy another book.

Feels like it is written for an undergraduate/young graduate audience, but can be used as a reference by all.
