Worthy addition to the LIR series. As a clinician who deals with aberrant mitotic cells I was looking for a book which would provide me with a quick & easy overview of the field. I wish I had this book when I was in med school. It nicely complements the classic LIR Biochemistry. Easy to read and profusely illustrated.

Really nice concise intro to cell & molecular biology and at the same time a review. It's great for engineers who are willing to delve into these and related subjects but are scared of the large volumes of other books.

I purchased this review book to help me study for my Cell and Molecular biology class and it did just that, it was a great review book. It carries the most important points, in a small amount of detail, with great pictures so you can begin to see the activity of a cell as a whole. It served its purpose for me but, on a tangent, I can't imagine how this is a suitable review book for medical school. The biochemistry lippincott's sure, that thing has 500 pages packed with detail. This one is not nearly as detailed as the lippincott's biochemistry review. It's a great review tool for undergraduate courses. For medical school, which these are often used for, it might be great too but I'd like to think anyone in medical school knows the amount of cell and molecular biology contained in this book cold.4 stars.

Very simplified, at times seems "dumbed down," but is helpful in understanding concepts. My school used Goodman's Medical Cell Biology, which can be dense at times and LIR (very clearly written and reading goes quickly) helped at these points to clarify things, but at other times seemed too simple without enough detail. It also has an entire section on Gene Expression which largely overlaps with the coverage of the same material in LIR Biochemistry. Much of the material on cell organization is also covered in much greater depth in histology texts such as Ross. I should emphasize that as a review book, LIR is good at highlighting key points and is very quick reading.

Good book. Once again Lippincott does a good job in using colorful illustrations to further elucidate difficult concepts. This book is no exception. The authors do a great job in breaking down difficult concepts to a level much easier to understand.

Excellent delivery of otherwise tedious and boring material. Short, sweet and to the point ; perfect for those with serious time constraints.

Love the format, the diagrams, and the content! Many of the processes included are covered in several courses and its easy to just go back to it, and remember everything just by looking/skimming...

made things a lot simpler than my professor was trying to teach us. lots of good pictures if you are a visual learner
