This is the best script analysis book for actors out there. You may have talent, you may be able to develop the emotion of your character, but this book shows you how to use the techniques of objective, obstacle and actions to make it jump off the stage and affect your audience. For film, you may be able to get away with "being." Not so on stage - you have to reach your audience and still be authentic. I've never read a better book to help with this, and it has become an invaluable reference tool. Charles is brilliant!

I've used this book as an actor for years. Using the book as a guidemap when approaching roles always helps me gain a much better understanding of the character i'm attempting to portray. The way Waxberg looks at a script and instructs you to break it down to actable actions is dead on and has helped me in many a situation where I literally didn't know what to "do" with a specific line. This should be required reading for any actor out there regardless of the technique you've studied.
