I am in love with this book! I had never heard of Dinovember, but was searching through books at a local store and at first glance thought it looked like a cool idea for a book. My sister had those very same plastic dinosaurs when we were kids and I thought it would be a fun gift for her 6-year-old son. When I got the book home and read the story before I dove into all the glory that is parents gone wild, I had tears in my eyes! "The toys were up to their old tricks again, and every morning was like Christmas (p.5)." In a world so overtaken by commercialism, this is a refreshing reminder that childhood magic doesn't have to be bought. I've added this book to my wishlist, for I now need a copy for myself and am making a list of how many other copies to order as gifts for Christmas. Well done, Tuma family. Well done! (The only drawback: The font size is way too small, both in the introduction and throughout the book. Next edition- go bigger, literally :-)
This book is amazing! You need to spend some time with it and study the pictures to really appreciate all the nuances and detail. This is definitely a book for grown-ups--not because of content but more for the subtle humor. I bought a copy for my 74 year old father and he was delighted.
I purchased this book because I fell in love with the Dinovember page on Facebook. I enjoyed reading the story how Dinovember came to be and loved looking at all the photographs of the dinosaurs' adventures. (I literally was laughing out loud at work reading the book) Kudos to the Tuma family for such creativity and sharing with the rest of the world. I purchased this book initially to send to my nieces, but I'm afraid it's now not leaving my house, thus meaning I'm ordering additional copies to send to my nieces! I look forward to seeing what mischief the dinosaurs get into when Dinovember starts in less than 2 days!
The excuse I used to buy this book was that it was for my grand-niece, but it was really for me. I love what this couple did for their children, and I love following them on Facebook during November, when we all get to share in the magic. It's a wonderful book, it's a genius idea, and the MOST wonderful thing about it is that now there are people ALL OVER THE WORLD who are doing it for their children, and sharing it with everyone. It brings back the magical joy of childhood to even us old geezers.
Fact: I used my best friends 19 month old son as an excuse to buy this book :) I love the creators, they have such an imagination and bring it to life with this book and their website. Love seeing people think outside the box and get back to being creative. Plus....dinosaurs.
How could anyone NOT give this book five stars? Just reading the introduction, I was in tears because I could relate to a busy family that had become overwhelmed with chores and tasks and lost touch with FUN. We started practicing our own Dinovember this year, and my family had such fun! How wonderful for the authors to share their experiences and creativity and humor with everyone. This book is hysterical!
I have no kids and am sort of an adult. Ok I guess a middle age adult now. I found you accidentally on Facebook, because I like dinosaurs. I loved the creativity you have shown. The book was great. The work you put into the dinosaurs antics is amazing. I enjoyed falling for the magic you created.
This is a fun book for the whole family. We love dinosaurs at our house and our collection gives this book a great review. There's a ton of photos of dinos doing hilarious things. You'll be inspired to set up your own little tableaus after reading this!
