Not my favorite book, but textbooks are notorious for their poor writing. They'll explain how to find 10% of 10, but they don't explain that the most interesting things about statistics are the things that cause them to deviate from the expected norms. Among other things. I'm hoping for better someday, but it readable, and has examples, and goes at a nice pace for parts of it.

Like most college students, I picked up the Kindle version of this textbook because I think the school has taken enough money from me for books every semester. However, with this book there is apparently registration code for the online portal, 'Wiley Plus'. You can probably see where this is going....yes, there is NO registration code included with this version....so if you need that, you better get the book. The price for the 'Wiley Plus' registration code directly from the publisher is $87.00....so if I have to pick that up I would be out $140 instead of the $92 if I just picked up the book from school....yay...[EDIT]: So I am updating my review on this based on the awesome customer service offered by . Even though this kindle edition did not work for me, CS helped me with alternative solutions and they were very quick. If I could I would rate CS 5 stars and this PUBLISHER 1 star. Still a good deal if you do not need the WileyPlus code.

As an introductory text, this book does an excellent job. My only real complaint is the (expected) emphasis on Frequentist approaches. In fact, there is no section on Bayes' Theorem at all! Furthermore, chapters 14 and 15 are not actually included in this book - although they are available for download from the WileyPLUS website.

It's a pretty good book, as far as textbooks go, so that's a rarity. I don't have any strong feelings towards it, but then there's nothing to critique on.

This is the best intro stats book I've ever seen. Amazingly easy to follow and great explanations. The solutions manual is also a great tool to use along with the book, it works out all the odd problems.

This book shows practically gives you the problems to work through, but also gives you some nice examples of difficult statistic problems.

It is so verbose, so unwieldy and prolix, that it effectively stifles understanding, interest, and progress. Mathematics is a science of concision, yet this text fails to convey concepts in five chapters that could easily be distilled into one chapter for quick comprehension. It's a Sisyphean task to make it through the first few chapters, as the content of the book seems to have been geared specifically towards those with zero math skills. An extremely painful introduction to an otherwise fascinating branch of mathematics.

Exactly what I wanted, just as described in items description.
