I am new to underwater photography and recently bought a camera. Now that I had the camera, I needed to know how to use it to its best advantage and bought the Kindle edition so I could read it on my iPad. I have not finished the book yet and have no doubt that it is the definitive book on the subject, but I am so disappointed by all of the typos and misspellings. When I read a book that no one took the time to edit properly, it loses some of its credibility and a lot of its pleasure.

Since I read the third edition of this book six times, I bought the fourth with some reservations, thinking only a little would be new. I was dead wrong! The book has been entirely re-written and is -- once again to Martin Edge's credit -- simply the best book I have ever read on my passion, underwater photography. So if you've liked the third edition, get the fourth. You'll love it.

I am a published photographer and yet every time I read a chapter I learn something new. I cannot recommend this book enough to both new and seasoned underwater photographers. Great contributions by other experts and links to very useful sites. I hope that one day we will see another edition as he seems to add more value every time he revises his books.I would enjoy diving with Martin one day to see some of his "magic" for myself.Ron Lucas, Bermuda

new to cameras and know nothing about f-stops. I have a Sea n Sea camera setup and really don't do anything but entertain myself with it but I do want to learn to take better photos - this book starts at the very beginning YAY!

This is a very high quality product. It is about as thick as a text book and full of full color photographs. It would be a sin to order this for a black and white kindle--get the print version even if you love your kindle as I do.This book is very well organized with technical camera setting information as well as a lot of less technical things such as composition. The book has one chapter on point and shoot cameras, however, much of technical setting information is designed for the manual settings in a SLR style camera. I was hoping for more detail about how to get more out of the limited settings in a point and shoot camera, but there wasn't much in the book. That may because there is not much to cover, versus the book lacking. I'm not sure since I'm new to underwater photography, but the book was still great.

This book covers photography fundamentals, and their applications to underwater techniques. It recommends equipment, and it relates information to both SLR and point-and-shoot cameras. This book is full of content, but very interesting reading (I'm not a reader myself, but found myself going through half a book in one sitting...adding bookmarks, etc). This is the second underwater photography book I've purchased, and this one really does deserve 5 stars. The material walks you through going from basic photography concepts for the beginner, to great tips and tricks for more advanced photographers. The book provides some quick pointers on how to setup your camera for general, decent picture taking, as well as specific settings for certain situations. It is organized to self contained sections for particular topics (housings, lighting, etc).It was a good buy for me.

This book was very helpful for finding the right shooting angles. It also explained a lot about what to change for various effects...If definitly improved my shots...Would recommended people who are new to underwater photography....

I'm a beginner underwater photographer and although I have not read the whole book, as it is very large and comprehensive, I did read several chapters and found that while it was while technical it was written for all levels of photographer. I had no difficulty understanding the technical parts as they were written in plain language and expertly illustrated. This book has lots of great colour pictures. It even has several sections which review different cameras and equipment options. Obviously this will date but the fundamentals discussed will likely remain true.I highly recommend this book, great value and very well written & illustrated.
