Prehospital Emergency Pharmacology, Seventh Edition is a comprehensive guide to the most common medications and fluids used by paramedics and other emergency medical service (EMS) professionals in prehospital emergency care. A cornerstone of EMS education for more than 25 years, it has been extensively revised in this edition to reflect current trends in emergency care, especially the growing requirement for evidence-based practice. A valuable aid to both practicing paramedics and paramedic students, it presents care procedures that represent accepted practices throughout the U.S. and Canada, as well as up-to-date medication dosages according with nationally accepted standards, including those of the AMA, AHA, and PDR.

Nothing very illuminating here. I'm a fan of Mr. Bledsoe, but this textbook was disappointing. You would better invest your money elsewhere. The book is basically an overview of drugs with no real information on administration. You can find the same information for free on the web.

While the general setup and information in this book is good, it has several errors and inconsistencies that make it very difficult to use. Many of the drugs are listed multiple times for their different uses (for instance, epi is in the cardiovascular section, the allergies & anaphylaxis section, and the respiratory section) and these separate listings may have different information in them. This would be okay if the "quick reference" in the back were complete or accurate, but it is not. This means that if you want a thorough summary of all uses of a particular drug, you have to go to the index and look up every individual listing for a particular drug and consolidate it yourself. The book also has important errors (you CANNOT give adenosine for Vtach, etc.), and gives irrelevant information (the book is very helpful in telling you that the peak effects of Solu-Medrol occur in 4-8 days when given IM, but says nothing about giving it IV, which is the only way a paramedic would ever administer it in the field; for some other drugs it does this and does not even state what route the pharmacokinetics are for.)The general "how to study pharmacology" type information in the first few chapters is good, but I do not think that this book makes a very good reference. I am hoping to see a new, revised and updated edition soon, that would fix some of the current problems.

I love this book! It is a great compliment to the text that I am using for my Paramedic class. It was a required text for class, but I really like the book. It is easy to read and the information is not only interesting but easy to understand. This book has helped enhance my learning in my studies to becoming a Paramedic.

Good but not great. Some small errors and information is just missing as another reviewer said. Sort of like it was written and not proof read to see if all pertinent information is present. Also talks about techniques that would never be used in Pre-Hospital care including some that were phased out in the 80s(30 years before this book was written). I don't understand how this is the 7th edition, it really pains me to see that they just produce new editions to make profits not to actually improve the original work.

Has the majority of drugs you will encounter in EMS; great "quick reads" on the drugs in the back appendices, with comprehensive readouts on the drug itself in each section. Covers the pharmacology behind each class very well. Would recommend if you just need an additional resource on hand at your station or in your house for personal reference.

Great book! Excellent breakdown on all medications. The fact that there is a companion podcast seals the deal. I would recommend this book for any prehospital provider!

This is a required book for NYS paramedic class. It is a good text and has all the information I need

Needed this book for class. Great price. Cheapest around. Also very help full for learning drugs !
