This book achieves its stated purpose very well. I'd recommend it to other neurologists who want to understand clinical Neuropsychology better. The chapter on the neurobehavioral examination is directly applicable to neurologists' practice.
I purchased this pocket guide as a component to other text materials when transitioning from clinical psychology to neuropsychology. It was useful, provided sufficient examples, and helped differentiate the different forms of dementia rather well. All in all, I would recommend this book for those who look to strengthen their assessment of neuropsychological conditions. However, those who are more advanced in the field, may find this book to be pretty basic.
This 3rd edition of Clinical Neuropsychology offers the essentials for understanding complex neurologic illness in a pithy chapter format. It has grown in size and weight since the first edition, but this increase parallels the increase in useful information for a graduate student, non-neuropsychologist or a practicing neuropsychologist. My wife, a pediatric neuropsychologist, used this text (with others) to prep for her written Board exam last week, which was about 85% adult disorders. It helped her pass the first time.I bought copies and gave to all my staff members, junior or senior.
Love earlier versions. This is fantastic content but whoever "produced" the book used bad glue or binding, within a month pages started falling out. replaced the book but the other book did the same thing. I carried the 2nd edition with me through the Army, in my purse, in backpack, no problems. This one I'm afraid to touch and it's expensive!!!!!
I had the first edition from about 1998, and "upgraded" to the third edition. New editors and expanded content, and still an excellent resource with much information packed in to a small package.
