Med School is tough but every now and then a useful tool comes along to ease the pain. Wheater's is one of those tools. Wheater's has truly great Atlases for Histology & Pathology. I bring both to my Pathomorphology labs. Wheater's Basic Pathology has really great, full color images of the pathology slides you're most likely to encounter during class. Each picture is labeled with the different structures you need to know. The text provides a short, succinct summary of the most important facts. This book is no Robbin's Pathology, it doesn't focus on text. It focuses on only images, so it's great if you have labs based on looking at slides. This book saves me during lab when I don't know what to look for or if the pictures in the prof's power points aren't labeled. I always bring along my Wheater's Atlas of Histology to compare what normal tissue looks like. Wheater's is also a great review right before tests. I highly recommend this book to anyone taking Pathology, it's a great complement to Robbins (or Goljan's). In this day and age you can find images online, but if you like having something physical you can bring to class and don't want to waste countless hours searching for properly labeled slides online, get this book.

I'm using this book for histopathology during my second year of med school and as a reference for the future. My pathology professor recommended it for its excellent images and easy to understand accompaning text. He was completely correct. What I really like about this book is that it gives me additional images to look at that are clearly labelled and very high quality. I also like that the book has a LOT of images, not just 1 per page with a vast majority of text like some other "atlas and text" references. But there is still enough text to explain the images in a clear and easily understandable way. Has helped me make sense of histo so much this year. It's also a pretty thin book for the amount of material it contains and is very well organized so I can find things easily. This means that I can bring it to class with me if I want without carrying a 2 ton brick in my backpack.

Really good book for a medical student, particularly if you are a US medical student.Even though it's pretty off the radar and not on everyone's top list of study materials (like Goljan, Pathoma, BRS, etc.), it actually has a ton of high yield Path material for Step 1. The histopath micrographs are correlated with clinical descriptions in a nice way. The end of each chapter has useful tables. Use it as you go along with each organ system in Path.

It's a good basic pathology book with lots of nice pictures, it's well made and the price is reasonable
