I loved the pace and layout of this book. From the first chapter I was following along with my sketch pad. The author takes a complicated and unfamiliar subject and breaks it down into components that are easy to understand and follow. The illustrations were well placed and helpful, the text informative, but not so detailed as to make you want to skim and jump ahead. All together a really fun how-to book.

Thank you so much to the creator of this it has helped me get so much better at drawing on a scale of 1 to 10 I used to be like a 3 and now I'm like an 8 thank you so much and to any one who wants this book but is questioning wether or not to get it don't just get it it will help you so much if you're a beginner.

The book is easy to follow, with small steps to go from a blank page to a finished drawing. A nice level of detail about faces (especially eyes), including expressions and ages. My only complaint is that it could use a little more detail on proportions and on the more complex and varied subjects of hair and clothing. It uses an easy to read and enjoyable writing style, and clear and useful illustrations.

While I can't compare it to other how-to-draw anime books, I can say that, as a complete beginner, this book has made a dramatic improvement in my ability to draw in the 2 weeks I've been using it. The 2 chapters on how to draw an anime head and anime eyes were really helpful. Some of the other chapters are a little harder to understand, and some I haven't gotten to trying yet, but for me it's been a great book. This is from someone who got through grade school art classes by participation points and acing the academic testing parts, not by being able to do art. Never thought I could draw, and I'd tried at various points. But with this book I'm having a lot of fun and creating drawings I actually want to show off.

Simple and lots of drawings. Doesn't give very much instruction for fleshing out the bodies or body parts or clothes, but lots of detail for the faces and eyes. Good for beginners like me!

It was easy step by step I am a better manga artist now, I love this book. But for less advanced students like me I consider an step by step simplified more then those steps, and you can show different strokes of the hair.

It was good if people want to draw manga and are just starting but for me this just had a few tips and I pretty good my self so depends on the artist either way a good book :)
