This remarkably engaging textbook gives biology students an introduction to statistical practice all their own. It covers essential statistical topics with examples and exercises drawn from across the life sciences, including the fields of nursing, public health, and allied health. Based on David Moore’s The Basic Practice of Statistics, PSLS mirrors that #1 bestseller’s signature emphasis on statistical thinking, real data, and what statisticians actually do.  The new edition includes new and updated exercises, examples, and samples of real data, as well as an expanded range of media tools for students and instructors. What's in the LaunchPad

The 3 ring binder version does not fit any 3 ring binders as the book is 8.5x10" paper vs 8.5x11" paper. You'd think that a bunch of mathematicians could have figured that one out. So now I have loose leaf all over the place. It's also very pricey for no binding and the fact that I have no way to bind it!

Bought this textbook for class. It's ok reading. The problems they work through are good. My only irritation is that textbooks only give the answers to every other problem in the practice sections. If I can't tell whether I am right or wrong, why do the problem? I don't learn from it.

Macmillen and author Baldi missed the point with this. The text does it's best to make a confusing topic confounding by using the most unnatural language possible to explain what could be easily explained topics. The Macmillan software is the worst Saas solution ever designed. If you're a student and your instructor assigns this text, drop the class and go teach yourself. If you're an instructor reading this; try Statistics Unplugged. I don't hate statistics and I do really like this book. I am a graduate student in public health. We are focused on probabilities so I just completed chapters 9, 10, and 12. I have found probability theory, binomial distributions, and Poisson distributions to be crystal clear.Minus 1 star for mucking up Bayes and some critical errors in excercizes, like the wrong definition of specificity on p. 260. But overall this book is making me very happy; I am a busy professional and I need to get this stuff the first time through the chapter at a rate of 2-3 chapters per week due to the accelerated nature of my program. This book is working!

Well written, chock full of amazing information. Highly recommended!

I just got the loose-leaf book and like someone mentioned before, it doesn't fit into two different binders! I don't know what I am supposed to do with like a thousand pieces of loose paper.

Way to much to read, it just complicated a subject I have to concentrate to understand. I ended up dropping the class, hoping for a different instructor and a different book.
