Before you choose this book for your advanced practice nursing students, just know that the book is large, written in fine print, and full of verbiage. If you feel that your students need to learn about culturally responsive care, ethics in health care, professional integrity in primary care, or how to translate research into practice, this might be the book you are looking for. IN reality, most nursing degree programs require classes in research, ethics, leadership and role development. Too much time is spent on these topics in this book. What could be said in a few words becomes paragraph after paragraph and chapter after chapter. It is certainly NOT a book they will want to keep as a reference text unless they have hours to spend looking for something they don't already know. Just hold on to old ethics text, a research text, a role development textbook, and a leadership book. Most of them cover what this book covers with much less effort. The authors of this book seem to be trying to make much to do about something or everything.

This text book is great if you have time to read it. As a core book for a FNP class, it contains too much information to review in 15 weeks. There is no way to read every word which steers students away from reading it at all. Students must rely on other sources to drill down to the important points of each disease process. This book is more suitable for a reference for an intense amount of details on a topic.

Yes, yes, yes. Great book with a lot of text! A lot of information but specific areas have definitive paths to take with diagnosis as well as a great clinical signs and symptoms. The book is a little overbearing when you see how much text can fit on each page but it is very informative.

This is a book that I will certainly keep as a reference, but it could have been better. The table of contents (if you are an NP student you use this a lot) is about 20 pages in, which is very inconvenient for trying to follow along with a class. The first couple hundred pages are culturally competent care, research, blah blah blah. This is not necessary at this point in an NP program. I also think that the authors did a good job of writing the text and the tables are pretty helpful to summarize. If you are a pictures person when it comes to learning patho, this may not be your favorite book. I also find that the authors group several disorders under the same headings such as cholelithiasis and cholecystitis or blepharitis, chalazion, and hordeolums. When they group similar disorders together and go back and forth talking about them within that section, it is difficult to differentiate between them. I think it's important to know the subtle differences between similar conditions and I don't want to be confused. This is when additional resources came in handy. I will need to buy an internal medicine text to supplement this book as it doesn't go into much detail about these conditions and spends a good amount of time describing acute care management for a book called primary care. I do like the little icons that say when it is a good idea to refer a patient and the differential diagnosis boxes. Unfortunately this book has limited applicability after I finish my course. I was hoping it would be a bible for me as I start my career.

This book is required for my curriculum but I really like the book. The chapters are small and not overwhelming to read. The book covers everything from physiology to treatment. I would recommend this book!

This particular textbook has no page numbers when purchased as a Kindle version. Most of the modules for my course require specific page readings, so this was a nearly worthless $80 purchase. Also, I find it much easier to skim textbooks when they are in print.

Good layout. Up to date information. Well organized. Easy format. Excellent authors. Well researched chapters and subsections. Would recommend to others.

I use this book in my graduate studies all the time. Very easy to understand and make Primary Care Issues easier to follow.
