This is a wonderful way to get ANYONE to take an interest in art. Very cheaply one can get 24 masterpieces to learn why an artist was famous. Althought it might be nice to have a 1 page bio the fact this is happening at all in remarkable. Most books about painters have less than 10-15 examples of their work and these are zoomable. Blow up (enlarge) the Mona Lisa and you see on the left the road leading to a lower shoreline of a lake. Look to the right and you see a footpath to an upper lake. Considering I saw neither in my 2 visits to the Louvre, this is quite the bargain for less than a hamburger. I got 22 different artists...imagine that..almost 500 paintings from 22 of the world's most well known painters for the price of 1 hardback book....shu

LEONARDO DA VINCI. (1452 to 1519.) Now, kids, do you think you have too much to do, with all that homework? From his young years Leonardo was involved in inventing, painting, architecture, math, engineering, sculpting, science, music, literature, anatomy, botany, geology, writing, history – whew! AND MORE. On top of all that, he is considered to be ONE OF THE GREATEST PAINTERS of all time. His inventions (mostly concepts) included the parachute, helicopter, and advanced weapons such as the tank. You'd think Leonardo must have had a rich childhood to get involved in all those endeavors. But he likely didn’t, being born “out of wedlock.” That is, his father never married his mother. However, he did pursue an informal education in Latin, geometry and math. His paintings have the richness in color, people, and subject matter of the Renaissance period. He was also influenced by the Roman Catholic religion. Paintings #1, #2, #3, #5, #12, #16, #18, #23 and #24 are about events in the life of Jesus Christ. Also there are self-portraits and portraits of other people, and Greek gods. You might want to study the paintings individually, and then in groups, and relate what you learn from doing that.Leonardo was a genius in many fields. You can be inspired by his works and your sense of awe of his unlimited talent will deepen.

Italian 13th-15th Centuries : Can't afford airfare so why not pretend? I've just entered the 1st floor of the Louvre and am walking down Apollo Gallery to the first exhibit with my kids Cathy (the dancer) Kristy (the artist) Mary (the athlete) and Junior (trouble!) Seen the classics like "Last Supper" & many paintings with heavy religious themes, the wonderful detail present in paintings like "The Battle of Anghiari" and of course "Mona Lisa"of which Junior asked, "Is that a picture of Mommy?" No, I replied, Mommy looks a lot younger. Moving on to Francisco Goya next...

Edit: Okay so after a month, I found out to HOLD the photo, and it will expand. I stand corrected. Whew! Rating amended.I snagged all of these in the series today, but guess what? I'd thought the paintings would render beautifully on my 8.9" Fire. Yeah, no. There's about 8 words of text for each painting, which are literally about 1.5 inches square, and a bunch of blank page.I wanted to use these as a teaching aid, but the images are far too tiny. So sad; neat books.

Great book with 24 paintings, drawings of Leonardo Da Vinci including some of my favorites like the Mona Lisa, the Last Supper, Lady in Profile and Portrait of a Young Fiancee. Great for homeschooling children to enrich their studies of art and humanities. The author tells us up front-no text or life of the painter/artist, just artwork. If you enjoy art-here it is!

This is a nice book of da Vinci's better known paintings. The photos are clear and there isn't any text to tell you what to think about any of them, simply the title and when it was painted. Not just for kids, but for anyone.

Who is greater than Leonardo da Vinci as a painter? He painted perhaps the most famous paintings... and I dofn't know some of them until I saw them in this collection "for kids" (and their parents...)Why "for kids" ? Because the author doesn't give any explanation or interpretation or history about the paintings, it is just a collection of Leonardo paintings. But only as a collection, without any further explanation, it is great to have this collection in my Kindle,,I am grateful to the author for putting them together for us.

I have collected 28 Leonardo da Vinci's Paintings (Collection) for Kids books. I examined 6 of those covers and found that the inside pictures were in the exact same order. At least each picture has a name but no other information. I used kindle from the Microsoft store to look at the pictures, the pictures are in color. Adults would enjoy as well as students.
