If you want to learn to think critically about doing research and evaluating the research of others, this is a very useful book to read. It has many "research articles" (made up by the author) that have errors discussed in the book. Unlike many books that just talk about issues, this actually has extended examples that seem like real life scenarios. It is probably most useful for students who already have an elementary understanding of research, but it could still be useful for *motivated* students who are new to the field. Overall, it is a very useful resource.

I used this text in an undergraduate research course in the behavioral sciences department. Most of the students were juniors. The students complained that the reading level was above their heads and that it wasn't very helpful. Personally, I thought it was well-written and insightful. I would recommend making sure that your students have enough of a research background and high enough of a reading level before selecting this book for a course.

This book is good for any student who is willing to learn the rudiments of critiquing an article. Meltzoff summarizes the important features in a clear way with numerous examples. The only problem is the articles are too short - I wish they were longer in order to give a much more comprehensive critique (but this is not a major problem)!

The book was very informative, thus describing everything from the process of reseach, designs and methods to employ , when conducting research. Its very helpful, when it comes to collecting data, data analysis and so on. Additionally, its useful in describing how to construct a research question and that of a hypotheses, and strategy. Overall, the book is excellent for researchers, wanting to learn how to conduct research at a graduate and scholarly level. The book is highly recommended for graduate students and those who are conducting post graduate work in research, methods, ethics and the statistical aspect of research. Everything you want to know about research can be found in the book : Critical thinking about research: Psychology and related fields. The book was particularly helpful in my gaining a precise understanding in approaching research and the critical thinking which is a vital part of research as well as other aspects of diversity that is a important role that intergrates into research, in other words the ins and outs of research, a must read book.

I have read this book while pursuing my PhD and it was of great use to me. The topics are very well researched and explained in a lucid manner. More case studies could have been provided to make it even more useful. Overall a very good book and I recommend this book to those thinking about research.

Necessary for your library if you want to publish or create studies, not so clear on the defining of jargon so that you have to look elsewhere for help to translate the book.

I was scared about taking a statistics class. After reading this book, It wasn't scary at all. This book was a good asset for my research project paper.

Most of these text books are all similar, they're not bad but they're just an outline for a class. I wouldn't buy this to read as a hobby, but it's not a horrible textbook.
