The author conveys his knowledge and experience superbly. In content, clarity and applicability, this book is a real winner. In this subspecialty (acupuncture for children) there a few quality publications, this is one of the best. The information is of practical value for both lay people and professionals. Parents, nurses, physicians and acupuncturists will greatly benefit from this one.
Scott has a number of books out, they're all excellent and this one is one of the best.Very clear and direct exposition of child patterns, good mention of herbs and and well organized presentation. The book even suggests a technique of acupuncture for the little ones which will combine safety, ease of penetration and guidelines for stimulation.Ideal for a text book or for use in a practice.
This is a wonderful book and a must-have! Even if you are not going to treat children, the information contained in the book will help you become a better acupuncturist. The main strength is a detailed discussion of many common medical conditions along with the possible patterns and treatment strategies. I also have Dr.Julian Scott's DVD set and I find both very useful.
What a great reference book for practicing Acupuncturists who are or will be treating children. A good guide book for acupuncturists and students who are interested in treating children with acupuncture. However, missing some very common childhood diseases. Expect more diseases and contents covered in next edition.
The best thing about Julian Scott's teaching is that he keeps everything simple. If you are a licensed acupuncturist and treat children at all, this book should be in your collection. The advice and format is not intended for anyone not skilled in TCM.
