A well complete book, with the better localizations of points of acupuncture in animals (dogs and horses), that it is currently the main reference for medical veterinarians acupuncturists.If you intend to buy a book veterinary acupuncture, this is the Book! I always recommend to my pupils.
I used the book to treat my two dogs. One dog I treated for itchy ears and nasal congestion, and the results were immediate relief. The other dog I treated for mania and hyperactivity with temors and the results were great. I used an energy point stimilator/indicator as I am not a vet or acupuncturist. I found the book easy to read and the illustrations clear. The points recommended for treatment worked well for my dogs issues. I will try to find the chinese herbal remedies recommended as well.
This book is well organized, very thorough, I used it a lot during my acupuncture course via the Xie institute and continue consulting with it for my cases as well as refresh my memory while learning herbs
I have known Dr Xie since the early 90's. He is the foremost veterinary acupuncturist in the world. He is also a dedicated teacher sharing his expertise with the profession. His book is well illustrated, very helpful and the most complete collection of practical wisdom available to english speaking people. He also shares his wisdom about Qi Gong and many other very useful tips to make the veterinary practitioner more effective. I have purchased 2 copies, 1 for myself when it was published and one recently for a gift to a third year veterinary student as she is starting to learn acupuncture. All veterinary textbooks are very expensive probably because they do not print that many copies.This book is worth every penny. Veterinary books cost over double what human texts are sold for. Many things veterinarians need to do the best job, are huge investments by individual veterinarians. This is a wonderful contribution to the health and well being of our animal friends.
Comprehensive book on acupuncture. This book is pricey, but I wish I would have bought this first.I highly recommend it.
I loved this book for learning about all the points, meridians and vessels. Although not being a veterinary TCM student I had to use the dictionary a lot to put it into practical use for acupressure on my pets. This book is terrific if Traditional Chinese medicine is your field of study. If you just want the basics to use at home or charts for easy use I recommend "Animal Acupressure Illustrated". If your serious about learning and using veterinary acupuncture this book is a must have.
I bought this book to use in my Chi acupuncture course. This book is laid out really well and I end up using it all the time.
This is a great text for the veterinary acupuncturist. Has great picture with meridians and points, discusses point usage for what you are treating. This book is not for the lay person or but is a great reference for those practiced in acupuncture. My background is a certified veterinary acupuncturist who studied under Dr. Xie
