This book gives you a whole view of the different primary energy markets. It is an application of the basic microeconomic theory (perfect competition, monopoly, monopsony and duopoly). You can find it in the basic or intermediate microeconomics courses. The theory is placed in the different chapters, where it is relevant. All microeconomic models are supported by a mathematical example. The developments of the energy markets over the last twenty years are discussed in additional chapters.It lacks of a deeper discussion of the new relevant pricing theory. You get a good overview of the market players, the supply and demand side. You can separate the book in two major parts. The development of the different energy markets, the physical basics and the development over time. The second major part is the price theory. The basics are represented here and for the beginners in energy economy it is a good book.
Don't you just love it that oil prices are so low? Why put ugly solar-panels on one's roof or use wind power when home heating and/or natural gas prices are so low? I'm laughing my face off at Al Gore, Greenpeace, the Sierra Club and all the other phony environmentalist-mafiosos. This is also a well-written, scholarly and comprehensive book.
