This widely used text uses a case-based approach to help students master the fundamentals of drug therapeutics. Students will learn the basics of common diseases and disorders and develop practical problem-solving skills for devising and implementing successful drug treatment regimens. Case studies integrated into each chapter illustrate key concepts and principles of therapeutics and give students practice in developing their own evidence-based therapeutic plans.

This book is very readable and once you get past the case-based format, it has a lot of good information in it. The case-based format does make it difficult to find facts at times. I have the Kindle version though and I am very disappointed that zooming is not enabled on the many tables in the book, making that information difficult, if not impossible to read. This needs to be improved. One of my classmates actually ended up buying the physical textbook in addition to her Kindle version due to this. Hopefully will work with the publishers to get this fixed, otherwise the Kindle version should be sold for less.

I teach Clinical Pharmacy and find this book far superior to the other Therapeutics text. The authors are top in their field, have practical knowledge and I always learn something new that I can use in clinical pharmacy practice when I read this book. Updated and then some, this text is easily useable for the next 4 years. Other text claims more frequent updates, but compare for yourself. Again, I strongly encourage students of pharmacotherapy read this book whether it is required or not.

The content of the book is great! The quality of the images in the kindle version, however, is NOT: blurry images of tables & charts make it difficult to read and often impossible.Until the quality of the kindle version is improved, I would stick with the bound version.

Great resource for pharmacology course. Very heavy book. I would have bought it for my e reader but sometimes the tables and graphics in that format are unreadable. I was able to sell it back after I was done using it.

I love the materials & the realistic patient cases presented in this book. As you know, you can only learn so much from a textbook but "real life" can get very messy & much more complicated than what a textbook can predict. This book provides extensive background information, summary charts & tables, very nice graphics, and numerous patient cases for the health care professionals. I would recommend this book to anyone.Unfortunately, I had to take off one start because I bought the Kindle version of the book. The Kindle version of the book is great for traveling & you don't have to do weight lifting with your biceps carrying this book. However, the tables, charts, & graphics are unreadable in the Kindle version of book!! The problem is you "CANNOT ZOOM" on a Kindle book if the kindle book you purchase is NOT a replicate version of the printed book!! So I recommend you buying this book in printed version you'd like to read details of graphs, tables, figures, etc. Therefore I took off one start from my rating.

difficult to read alone for a class or subject due to the abundance of case after case; however, the book offers great reference guidelines and algorithms for quick reference on a particular practice case. Please keep in mind the book is updated every 3 years to my knowledge and would not reflect any new guidelines that take place.

I bought the Kindle version because with the previous issue the book was so thick and heavy that the binding obscured the words close to the fold. While the Kindle version resolves this issue, the tables are not legible. I tried several methods to resolve this, blowing up the font for example, but doesn't work. I am still learning from reading the narrative, but am overall very disappointed with the product.

I am not fond of this book. First, it's 2,519 pages and is much too heavy for anyone to have to carry around. If you're trying to read something near the beginning or end of the book it's hard to see the wording near the center binding because of the thickness of the book. It should have been made into two volumes. Most of your learning in this book is via case studies so if that's what you're looking for, it's good. There are no chapter reviews or questions at the end of any of the chapters or on their website. However, I do like the core principles listed at the beginning of each chapter and the introduction pages at the start of each chapter.
