I bought this book for my daughter (who is a freshman in a pre-pharmacy program) to use as a review for the cert exam. She thought it thoroughly covered what was on the exam. The CD was a great testing tool and offered new questions each time. She passed with flying colors and only had a couple of weeks to study!

Used only this book to study for the PTCE and passed easily. I only studied for about 2 weeks (about 3-4 hours a day, 4-5 days per week) and was able to finish the test, review my answers, and leave the test with 20 minutes to spare. The end of chapter questions and study questions on the CD helped tremendously.

I took the PTCB last weekend. Although I passed the test the first time,I think the book missing material. It does not cover anatomy and physiology, common diseases, safety and compounding. It does a REALLY good job of explain other concepts such as pharmacy laws, MATH ESPECIALLY , dosage forms etc.If you get this book I would recommend using this book along with Comprehensive Exam Review for the Pharmacy Technician (Edition 2) by Jahangir Moini..it covers concepts that arent in this book. Its always good to get more than one review book for studying PTCB in general because not all books are created equal.

I just got home from taking the PTCE and I passed! This book helps you out tremendously with the pharmacy math. However, I must note that you should learn how to utilize dimensional analysis i.e. converting into your desired units the way you like. I read the book from front to back and found that the most helpful for me on the exam was the math and Top 200 drugs. Final words on people out there who are prospective technicians, get yourself any PTCB resource out there, familiarize yourself with pharmacy language/law, learn the math and top 200 drugs/actions and if your anxious about exam formatting purchase the practice exam from PTCB for 29 bucks and you'll be golden!

This book was helpful... a little wordy with unnecessary coverage of things not on the test. there were a few typos and there were topics missing such as pharmacy literature aka the red book, the orange book,etc.. Nothing at all and there are questions on the quiz pertaining to them. also the laws werent covered enough. even the 2005 psuedoephedrine law isnt mentioned and the book was supposedly updated on the quiz. Once again. a question on the test. all and all it helped me pass. but its 38 chapters so start about a month before your exam.

I passed the test, and here is my opinion for its pros and cons:1. Pros: This book offers very huge information. So far, this is the thickest book I have picked. But I have to appreciate the author with the wide and profound knowledge has helped me understand the mechanisms of the drugs and how they work inside the human body. Cons: Expect more than 3 months consistently study on this book. I have to admit that I was stressed over this book because I didn't know what type of information would be on the test while this book is full of it, and it took me a ton of time.2. Cons: This book does say about but misses detailing on the actual procedures of certain aseptic techniques for sterile products and equipments use for asepsic.3. Pros: Cleanning spill methods are very helpful. Math in the book is useful and easy to understand. Pharmacy laws are explained well. Tips for the test are valuable.

This is a fantastic book for pharmacy technicians; however, if you're just looking to pass the exam, I would highly suggest supplemental reading related to state, federal, and institutional laws that apply to pharmacy.A large portion of Zentz's Exam Review covers practically all the math and pharmacology you will ever need as a technician. Zentz also provides readers with an accurate role of a technician in the workplace. I strongly recommend all pharmacy technicians read this text to prepare themselves for the field. As far as the test goes, if you're confident in your math skill and your ability to memorize drugs on your own, I would suggest picking out a summarized exam review.Side note: The Review is over +400 pages of pharmacy related text.

I rented this textbook from February to May to study for my PTCB exam. I have worked in a pharmacy for just under a year and this book helped me greatly! It has so much information that I hadn't learned on a daily basis working in the pharmacy but that showed up on the exam. I passed my exam and I'm so pleased I used this book!
