James Kaiser writes travel guides that get one excited to visit a national park. He provides great insight, good detailed descriptions of trails and landmarks, which allow you to make a solid decision on what you want to include in your own itinerary. My favorite part is when he provides a sample itinerary for what to do if you only have 1 day or 2 days to visit the Park, as he realizes that not all of us have the luxury of spending a week or more, and not all of us are campers. He provides beautiful color pictures, robust maps, some history of the area, surrounding landmarks, and lodging & dining details, which all give you a good sense of where you're going and what to expect, as well as how to prepare for your adventure.
great history and and overview information on such items as wildlife or geology. I gave it 4 stars because I thought maps could have been better. I would buy again. The pictures are wonderful of the various areas...
The best of best.Very beautiful photos and very concise word make the book very useful and practical. Not like other guiding book filled with tons of words and ads, this book gives only useful information and pictures, which will help you find what you want to explore.
Great resource for Yosemite. It was really helpful when planning hikes for the trip because it shares the difficulty level and average time it takes someone to do the hike. We definitely used the info from this book. I even saw another couple carrying this book around Yosemite when we were there! it was pretty funny.
James Kaiser is a fantastic author. His travels guides provide unique insight that you cannot find in the mainstream books. I would not goto Yosemite without this book!
