Normally when I read a book about making money online, I find that either the opportunity is hyped or it is lacking in detail.That is certainly not the case with this book as Jeffrey clearly knows what he is doing and imparts his considerable knowledge here.Everything is covered including where you can promote your work, what equipment you need to buy as well as a section on how to pick a topic.In concluding, it is explained that this is not a get-rich-quick business. However, if you are serious about making money in this way, this is a very comprehensive guide.
As a stock photographer who hopes to expand my meager video portfolio, this book has been very inspiring and informative. I have some knowledge of the stock video business, but found many tips and thorough explanations that could take me to the next level. I especially appreciated the details on color space, compression, and codecs which made the confusing more clear. Advice on workflow and keywording was also extremely valuable. All in all, this book provides a great overview of how the stock footage video business works, from creating footage to processing to selling clips through stock agencies. I highly recommend this book for anyone seeking to sell video online. The author obviously knows his stuff, and is good at passing the knowledge on!
This is a really great book for every level of knowledge and experience. It's actually a complete course on video shooting and marketing and is really up-to-date with the section on aerial videography with UAVs. I've been producing and selling videos for over 30 years and still learner a lot! Highly recommended!
This is a wonderful read for people wanting to start this up as a hobby or full time. I am just starting out, and this book has been so well written that it has made my learning journey so much clearer. I know that I have a long way to go, but with this information it is going to be so much easier. Thanks heaps Mr Dennis.
I am somewhat new to selling stock video clips (just over a year now). In that time, I’ve spent many hours reading on-line forums, hints, company practice, and suffered trial-and-error. This book mirrors the learning I’ve done and presents it in a very readable format. I’ve also definitely learned some new things from the book. Selling online video has been a nice creative outlet for me. It hasn’t made me rich, but it is a nice bit of extra income that helps to sponsor my next video gadget! If you’re thinking about starting, this book would be a great way to get going.
I am quite familiar with the stock footage world. Jeff is clearly a guy who focuses on specific details, which is helpful to someone starting out in stock footage. This book will give you a good lay of the land to get started. I still learned from reading Jeff's book. He has good knowledge of lighting, and the 4k an drone sections are well done. He provides camera recommendations for the 4k camera. Shutterstock millionaire author also recommended the Camera Panasonic DMC-GH4. I like how Jeff focuses on the safety aspect of flying drones, which as someone who started flying a DJI phantom for aerial footage knows this is the most important aspect.I discovered a new research tool from chapter 5 that will determined the chances of making a sale before shooting. I'm excited to give this a try. I'll also try to do more rack focus shots and try to focus on connecting on an emotional level as Jeff suggested. What can I say? As a budding video artist, I found this well written and sometimes humorous little book to be of great value. It is chock full of all the information that an aspiring video technician should need to get the ball rolling and turning video into cash. The authors cover a great and wide scope here, ranging from basics such as framing and composition, to more technical matters such as codec usage and delivery formats. Heck, there's even a chapter on quadcopters and aerial footage! It is all you need...
This book is amazing! In a world where jobs are being outsourced overseas and technology is forever changing, this is one way to make money regardless of your age, training, job history or education! And it's actually fun finding new things to shoot. The best part of all, I didn't have to make a heavy investment or take on the risk of quitting my day job. Although, someday, i hope this profitable hobby allows me to do so! This book laid everything out in simple terms exactly how to make it happen. Kudos to Jeff Dennis for de-mystifying the process!
