I bought this for my ICU rotation. It wasn't entirely what I was expecting (perhaps I didn't research the book enough). I was expecting more of an outline-formatted book. However, this is more of an essay-type format with various topics. Instead of using it bedside or to help me write my notes, I did find it very useful as a resource to study from during down time throughout the day. And for that purpose, it was great.
This book is phenomenal. I have Marino's standard ICU Book and this is a nice and concise alternative to keep on my phone's Kindle app when I am in need of a quick refresher on the unit. I just started an ICU position and Marino's works have been helping me get acclimated nicely. I don't use them as often as I should, but I know where to go when I have questions and I highly recommend "The Little ICU Book" to start, as a basic refresher, or just as a guide to refer to in your own practice.
Great as both a primer for entry into the ICU setting, and as a quick reference within ICU practice. Topics are covered in short, easy to understand, information-dense chapters.
Great simple to understand guide for residents! Definitely not comprehensive, but it gets me by in the majority of situations.
Great book..very concise! Very helpful in explaining Acidoses and Pulmonary physiology relevant to ICU. Importantly, it Fits well in my pocket.
Actually, I'm in Med/surg and love to read this book. It is very well organized and many good additional evidence-based info, which is good to know. I've learned a lot from this book.
I have had this book for a long time, and have found that it is still pertinent and helpful. Every year during residency I've picked it back up to refresh certain topics. Rarely have I needed another book.
Excellent book to carry around with you while working in the ICU. Not the easiest to read cover to cover but perfect for reference or to read a chapter at a time based upon particular patient's.
