Paris has been the subject for many iconic photographers including Henri Cartier-Bresson and Eugène Atget but my favorite has become Robert Doisneau thanks to this book. It was edited by his daughters who assembled each section by a theme. Like others who have photographed Paris he shows lovers, monuments and Parisians at work and play, but his photos have such wonderful humor. To my eye he captures a Paris that is timeless but which is slowly disappearing under the blades of progress. What is most endearing are his comments among the photos that amplify what you see and let's you know what he was thinking and doing at that moment-excellent reading. Bresson and Atget have impressive photos of Paris-this work tells a story of Paris.
Wonderful book with some of the finest photographs of Robert Doisneau. He really captured the city of Paris throughout the years. Highly recommended if you are a Doisneau fan or just a photography fan.
I love this book. It a big book full of photographs. What I personally love about the book is that it not only has the classic photographs Doisneau is famous for, but plenty more for readers to enjoy. Highly recommend.
