As an asset class, commodities are now as important as stocks and bonds – and with rapid growth in demand, profit opportunities in commodities are larger than ever. But today’s computer-driven markets are volatile and chaotic. Fortunately, you can profit consistently – and this tutorial will show you how. Building on more than 30 years of market success, George Kleinman introduces powerful trend-based techniques for consistently trading in your “sweet spot” for profits.   Kleinman reveals exactly how the commodities markets have changed – and how you can use consistent discipline to avoid “shark-infested waters” and manage the market’s most dangerous risks. Ideal for every beginning-to-intermediate level trader, speculator, and investor, this guide begins with the absolute basics, and takes you all the way to highly-sophisticated strategies.   You’ll discover how futures and options trading work today, how trading psychology impacts commodity markets even in an age of high-frequency computer trading, and how to avoid the latest pitfalls. Kleinman offers extensively updated coverage of electronic trading, today’s contracts, and advanced trading techniques – including his exclusive, powerful Pivot Indicator approach.   Three previous editions of this tutorial have become international best-sellers. But the game has changed. Win it the way it’s played right now, with Trading Commodities and Financial Futures, Fourth Edition .

Before you buy this book, go to your local bookstore and read the first four pages. If your answer is "yes" to the main question the author asks, then buy it and prepare yourself for a fun and informative reading.George Kleinman is a real trader; one that has been around since the "good old days" when trading commodities required more than a computer and a financial model. He has also successfully made the transition from the noisy pit to the relative calmness of the trading room. The point is, readers will benefit from Mr. Klainman's wealth of knowledge, which he disperses freely throughout the pages of his book- now in its fourth edition. This remains a seminal work and any serious trader should read it.Kleinman begins with the basics, explaining how futures and options trading work today, how trading psychology impacts commodity markets, and how to avoid the latest pitfalls. He offers extensively updated coverage of electronic trading, today's contracts, and advanced trading techniques - including his own exclusive Pivot Indicator approach. The latter is one of the big insights of the book, as it allows you to learn a real trading method that has endured the test of time.As the author notes "When it comes to making money trading commodities, there's no holy grail--no single methodology that's correct. There are numerous paths to profitability, and plenty more lead to loss. You'll need to identify a method that fits your personality."This isn't a "silver bullet" system. It's about learning how things work in the options and futures pits -- including yourself -- to maximize your trading opportunities. It's a great read on a number of levels.

Id say this is a great book for someone starting out with no knowledge of the markets, options, or futures. Its an easy read and has chapters punctuated by memorable recounts of interesting stories from the authors past. If you are looking for a very advanced book on trading strategies, this book might start off too slowly and at too basic of a level to maintain your interest.

George Kleinman lays out the details simply and logically.Huge amount of information of the realities of trading both Commodities and FuturesIncludes the very basics of costs per trade, profits per trade and how the system works

The book was mostly on charting, not a detailed description of individual futures. I was interested in learning about the financial futures and there was little or no information. For instance there was no information on the relationship of individual futures and their corresponding ETF's. If you are interested in learning about charting, there are better books than this and if you are interessted in financial futures, there has to be a better book.

Basic information, you can find the majority for free on the internet. He does more telling of stories than getting down to the nuts and bolts of being a professional trader or a trader simply looking to increase earnings. One disapointment was he partially explains what sounds like a good trading strategy/system but then tells you to buy another one of his books for the full details. Expensive book for the information given, Id recommend looking elsewhere.

A couple of decent anecdotes and stories, but the trading ideas are worth very little and are poorly intuited. I did appreciate the author's perspective on why the business is difficult.

It's really great reading for a novice, interesting stories, useful basic knowledge of futures and options, including how to trade them in different ways, like you can trade the spread with lower risks, blablabla. I also benefited from the technical tools, especially the GK's own ones, like SNI and pivot indicator. What tells me the most is the traits or personalities that a successful trader should possess. I really like this book and I will read it again and again to find out more and more useful things.

Mr. Kleinman is obviously someone who knows what he is talking about when it comes to trading futures. It is refreshing have someone as experienced as he clearly is "tell it like it is" when it comes to navigating these markets. No fluff, no BS. Very grounded and usable instruction. Plus the book is written in a fun and conversational manner which makes it an enjoyable read. It's kind of like an having experienced trading friend in the room with you giving you low down on what trading is all about. If I could recommend only 1 book on trading futures, this would be the one.
