This book is the larger-sized paperback version of Photographer's Guide to the Nikon Coolpix P610. This version of the book contains the same content as the earlier version, which was published in May 2015 with dimensions of 8.5 by 8.5 inches (216 by 216 mm). The new version of the book, which replaces the original version, is being published at a size of 8.5 by 11 inches (216 by 280 mm) in order to present more information on each page, which keeps related images closer to the text they illustrate and reduces the page count, making the book easier to manage. This book, by Alexander S. White, is a complete guide to the operation and features of the Nikon Coolpix P610 digital camera. The book explains all shooting modes, menus, functions, and controls of this superzoom camera in clear language, accompanied by more than 350 full-color illustrations and sample photographs. The guide shows beginning and intermediate photographers how to use the camera's many shooting options to get the results they want. The book explains topics such as autofocus, manual focus, aperture priority, shutter priority, HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography, ISO, memory cards, and flash modes. The book includes a discussion of techniques for using the camera's phenomenal zoom lens, with a maximum focal length of 1440mm, to full advantage. The book also discusses the camera's features for image transfer and remote control through the P610's built-in wireless (Wi-Fi) network), as well as its features for adding GPS location data to images. The book includes sample images taken using the creative settings of the camera, including the Picture Control settings, which alter the color processing of images; the Scene and Special Effects shooting modes, with settings optimized for subjects such as landscapes, portraits, pets, sunsets, and action shots; and the camera's features for burst shooting and time-lapse photography. In addition, the book provides introductions to topics such as infrared photography, street photography, and macro photography.

I believe Mr. White's book does a splendid job in describing all of the Nikon Coolpix 610 capabilities, and does it in such a fashion that a novice such as me may learn great photographic skills. The book is easy to read and comprehend.

This is an excellent guide for the P610. It's filled with many tips that the downloadable Nikon Reference Manual does not have and it's also a lot more convenient to be able to read and bookmark the various pages that you may want to come back to later. I've read both and the book is the clear winner.

Near perfect guide to owning the Nikon Coolpix P610. This type of guide should have come with the camera. The manual Nikon furnished was worthless. The author is very well knowledgeable in photography and the Camera. However the guide could use a little tweaking by a technical writer, as one reviewer stated they had to go back and forth and re-read several sections several time to understand the material. In my view some of the chapters are out of order; for example, the camera familiarization chapter (I believe chapter 5) should have been the first or second chapter.Although I gave it a "4" due to layout issues, this guide is a "must have" if you buy the Nikon P610

Excellent research book....well written and organized...with links and photos that make it a pleasure to use. It is far better than anything Nikon has available (that I know of). I still have his guides to my D5100 and Coolpix P600 ....and will not buy any new camera until I have confirmed that his guide is available...today's cameras are increasingly complex and the support is essential. I have recommended the 600 series to a couple of friends, adding that my endorsement depends on their simultaneous purchase of White' guide. And, having the books on Kindle allowsfor quick lookups on iPhone or iPad while "in the field"!

Very good, although I still have to read certain parts or explanations many times and go through the steps before I understand. Part of this is vocabulary, and I wish more in the know photography pundits would use user friendly language. But the book is very helpful and I am not sorry I ordered it.

This book offers so much more information than the manual that came with the camera. I am using many features that I would never have figured out without the book. I am a beginner photographer and so much of this is new to me so I am happy to have a good reference.I wanted to practice with my camera before a big trip I have upcoming. I think I will have many great photographs when I return.

I actually got this book before getting the camera. Once I actually had the CoolPix 610, I delved into this most clear, complete, and well-written/user-friendly book; I still haven't felt the need to go online to Nikon and read the camera user manual. One other thing: when the camera came and I first turned it on, I found that everything that appeared on the screen was in Japanese and I had teouble figuting out how to switch to English. So I emailed Mr. White for assistance, he immediately responded, I made the language switch, and I'm now learning the nuances of the P610 with much help from Mr. White's book.

This book is fantastic. It's far more comprehensive and in-depth than the Nikon documentation. I haven't had a chance to see everything in the book but whenever I've had a question about the operation of the camera I've been able to look it up quickly and it has yet to disappoint.I'm actually going to get another for the D7000 I have. This book is a must have unless you know everything there is to know about your camera.
