To say this book is a real value is an understatement. I would have paid double the cost for this book and still been pleased with the information gained.The book is nicely laid out so you are walked through step by step and not overwhelmed with a lot of information all at once. Instead you read perfectly sized chapters and the author provides great examples using color photos.I think the addition of the color photos was what sold me the most on this book. You are able to look at the photo and fully understand the process the author is describing.If you are planning on buying a digital SLR camera or giving one as a gift- this book is THE companion guide for no stress, fast understanding and a fast start to taking great photos.
What an amazing book this is! The author presents a great deal of very useful information in an easy to follow format. But don't get me wrong, it's not a lightweight book. It provides in depth discussions of many topics that will interest the novice DSLR user, but also provides content that will help out the experienced. It also comes complete with really nice photos that explain exactly what's going on in the text. I learned a great deal about composition as well, which is one of my downfalls. This book will certainly improve my efforts in capturing that perfect shot. I may never get it, but I'm a lot closer now than I was before reading this book. I recommend it for new and "old" DSLR users alike. Good value.
I have always loved taking pictures, but recently I wanted to take it to the next level.Having three young children I am not able to take a photography class so I decided to look into other avenues.I have read a few books on the subject but none as informative as this one!I loved all the detailed explanation and the pictures taken with the different lenses really helped drive the point home.I'm sure I will be using it as a reference time and again!
If you are looking for good, compact information specifically about DSLR Cameras and SLR photography then this book is for you. It answered a lot of my questions and armed me with knowledge so when I go to buy my dream camera I won't feel duped by the salesperson.For the every day shots I use my smart phone (who doesn't?) but I've always been interested in becoming a more advanced photographer. So where do I start? I tried asking questions from a sales clerk at a camera store but I got a lot of camera jargon thrown at me along with some attitude. That's when I came to the wonderful world of non-judgmental ebooks. I picked up this great guide and am so glad I did! It is very easy to understand, beginning with the basics and walking you through the different components of DSLR Cameras and SLR photography.
Short introduction to all the essential concepts required to use a D SLR. I was a bit skeptical to buy this book, as it seemed like it was self published. However all of the five star reviews are not exaggerations. The writing is concise and clear, the layout of the book logical. Keep in mind this is just a short introduction to the concepts, so if you're looking for "how to use the DSLR", this may come up that short. But for those of us who have used an SLR camera in the past and maybe just need a refresher on the important concepts, or those who are not afraid to experiment with some trial and error, this is really a great first step into the DSLR world.
DSLR Photography for Beginners by Brian Black is an excellent introductory book that will give you the basics on getting started with photography. Let's face it, most of us take pictures at some point and knowing how to make sure they turn out "right" is a great thing. Understanding shutter speed and how to take certain pictures in different light etc., is all outlined in this book.The author took the time to provide great examples and the visual makes it that much easier. If you need a little help with your photo taking skills this is the book for you! Nice work!:)
A real easy read that is extremely helpful for getting the basic foundation for taking photos with a DSLR. I read this on my plane ride in hopes of learning a bit about the DSLR I had borrowed. The book did a great job of explaining what things were, how they worked and examples of how you would use it. It didn't get overly technical or cover too much to handle for a newbie. I felt much more confident in knowing how to use my camera and have since honed my skills based on the basics this book gave me. Would highly recommend!
This was an excellent educational tool and easy to read reference book. I really have learned so much so fast. I have been trying to learn the art of photography since I bought my new camera a few months ago. But up until this point all the books that I tried to read were very technical and confusing. Finally I found this wonderful book that explains everything in such an easy to understand way. I now completely understand the mechanics of my camera, including how aperture and exposure work. I already see a tremendous improvement in the pictures I am taking since I now know how to set my camera properly for the photo that I am trying to take. There is so much information packed in this book that it is like a classroom course. If you are in need of a good beginner photography book like I was then highly recommend your check out this book.
