This book from the Urban Land Institute is one of the best ones I've seen that really touches on all aspects of real estate development. The finance sections were particularity helpful for someone with no formal finance training or education (such as myself).
The material is written in a "down to earth" or "plain english" format - making for a much easier read and quicker grasp of the concepts. Each chapter contains key term lists and review questions.
After reading that the book was revised because of green development, I was extremely disappointed on how little there was about the specific subject. It is a good basic book but the revision was over-hyped. I could have saved a lot of money. I would only recommend this for beginners.
