I would assume that the majority of people who would buy this book are taking a class in pharmacology. I have had alot of recommended text books that were not worth even taking out of the wrapper, but this book is not one of them. The author's actually spent the time to organize and gather relatively current information and then put a hard cover on it. It's getting harder and harder to get that combination. I gave this a 5 star rating because it really will be a book you will keep and reference after the class is over.

This is an easy-to-read, very concise and to the point text book. Ciccone does a great job of summarizing each disease process, listing the drugs used in their management, and including excellent case studies as they pertain to rehabilitation. Of particular help were the boxes at the end of each chapter which detailed any rehabilitation concerns that should be addressed in treating patients using particular pharmacological intervention. I actually read this book from start to finish and can claim to have read an entire textbook, a first for me.

This book provides instant access for commonly encountered meds (and their effects)in any clinical setting. I have found a lot of useful information that you can easily use in your day to day activities.

This book is clearly written and extremely helpful. If you are in a rehab field, having a pharmacology text geared toward your specific issues is extremely helpful. I used this text in preparation for GCS exam and found it very useful. I also have a pharm text which is general in nature, and I refer to this one far more often because it addresses topics more clearly and more specifically in context to what I do. Would recommend this as an excellent reference to anyone in a therapy discipline.

I recently took a Pharmacology course- I am 1 semester away from graduating a Physical Therapist Assistant program. This was not a required text book, but recommended and I purchased it. The information is organized very well, and it is easy to read. Its broken down in the detail that any therapist would need. As far as school goes, I really saw no purpose to take this class, but in the clinic I realized I was wrong. Knowing what medications a person is on can either greatly benefit or greatly hinder therapy- and this book really helped me to understand why. I would suggest anyone in a rehabilitation setting purchase this book, as well as, the Drug Guide for Rehabilitation Professionals.

I expected highlighting and such for a used book. But for the money I paid (which was only ~$7 less than the cost of a brand new book), this was disappointing. It was very marked up with bad handwriting & underlining in pen ink - not just highlighters. The merit of the book. The content of the book itself was great! Pithy summary boxes capture needed info easily. Enjoyed the thought-provoking case studies and self-reviews at the end of each chapter too.

Excellent book! Well-written, very easy to understand. This book covers basic neurology, anatomy, and physiology, thus provides an excellent review! It also explains very well in details how drugs act on the body. Highly recommed to physical therapy students, medicine students, and the other medical discipline students.

I used this book to help me study for the Geriatric Certified Specialist exam. It was very helpful. I like the charts that list common drugs in each chapter. Also the Special Concerns boxes were good for applying the drug information to our patients.
