Andrea Lunsford’s research shows that students are writing more than ever — in classrooms, workplaces, and social spaces, in local communities and around the world. The Everyday Writer, Fifth Edition, is the first tabbed handbook to help the participants in this "literacy revolution" build on the smart decisions they make as social writers — and use their skills in their academic and professional work. With Andrea Lunsford’s trademark attention to rhetorical choice and language, and with new chapters on public writing, critical reading, and understanding how and why to use documentation, The Everyday Writer gives today’s students the information they need to be effective, ethical writers. New illustrations by graphic artist G.B. Tran make complicated concepts clear and inviting for students.

As a college professor using this book in her Intensive Writing class, I found this book to be very accessible to students, unlike some others texts I've used in the past, like _We Are America_. The organization is particularly interesting, as it groups different topics by color and tabs, and the indexes are very easy to use, making it a good reference source for all college writers. It is also very thorough, covering all the different grammatical and composition issues students might encounter in their college-level English courses. In a way, its advantages are also its disadvantages, because it sometimes seems to try to do *too much* in one book. It might be helpful to divide the book into sections that would be relevant for very beginning college writers as well as sections that would be more advanced, (like the research portion and documentation), so that students who needed the basics could easily find them, while students who were looking for higher-level writing tips could go straight to the sections they require.Overall, though, I would recommend this book for college-level writers. I would suggest any student who buys this book keep it for their future writing classes, as it will prove useful throughout their college career.

Make sure you're ordering the correct copy of this book, if the ISBN number ends in a 5 it is spiral bound, otherwise it is comb bound. While this might not be a big deal to some people I was highly annoyed as I was specifically looking for a certain version and wound up with the wrong one despite the website description.

While I ended up not using this book much for the class I purchased it for, I completely intend on saving it for every year of college to come. I pride myself in my write but having helpful guides like this are always nice. Not to mention the tabs make it so much easier to maneuver the book.

Really useful for first time English writing learners. I never used as much since I have a good writing background but whenever I was stuck on a thing or not in terms of writing or structure, this book was a great referral.

Make sure you are looking at the specific book. I needed the spiral bound one, and I ordered this one thinking it was the same but it's not. This is just a book of exercises to practice and nothing more and I wanted to return it, only to find out it was a day past the actual return date.

It was encouraging to be reminded of the basics. This book helped and provided me with the path to freedom and peace in writing.

Came on time and it is a very helpful guide for the expert-beginner writer! It was required for my college English class and has been very helpful throughout the course!

I received this from the seller earlier than expected which is awesome. I don't have a lot to respond to as far as the book goes as it's just a book for writing properly. So I guess "fun book" ?
