Awesome resource with way more info than you might need but no shortage just in case you want to really delve into the varied world of real estate. I bought the book knowing very little about real estate as a whole and I've come away with a general understanding of the many ways one can diversify their financial portfolio by using RE.If you have a basic understanding or if you know nothing at all, this is your book!
This book gives a great overview for beginners. It contains tons of advice and points you to the right resources to learn more about the real estate market conditions in a particular geographic area. By following Tyson's advice, you could avoid costly mistakes. Overall, great buy.
Like all of Tyson's "Dummies" books, this book is thorough and clear. The level is perfect for someone that does not have experience in the field of Real Estate investing, but does not talk down or assume that you are clueless. The authors try to be balanced telling you about options and possibilities that they disagree with, while making it clear why they think it might be a bad idea to proceed down those paths.
I expected the book to be light and contain mostly common sense advice. 1/4 into it, I realized it's more in-depth and does contain lots of good info.
I've consistently found that these "...For Dummies" books are formulaic but helpful and well done. I got into real estate a bit many years ago but have forgotten a lot. I was confident that this book would be a good choice for bringing me up to speed again, and I was not disappointed. There are many good real estate books on the market which readers might subsequently consider if choosing to seek more depth and detail, but, if one simply wants to ask--and answer--the question, "Could real estate investing be for me?" this book provides a helpful--and most importantly--honest set of answers. The authors aren't trying to sell the reader anything. No schemes here, just the facts.

A good beginners book. More than a few pointers and it covers a wide area in real estate. Not as humorous as other "Dummies" books i've read.
