I recommend Lonely Planet phrase books for ever foreign adventure. It's a lifesaver! They're broken down into easy to find subjects and the pronunciation breakdown is accurate.... unless it's Polish and then you can just point to what you want to say. I can hold my own with German but my American mouth just can't make Polish sounds.
The size is PERFECT for toting around while you are out exploring a foreign country. It has more info and sayings than I think I would ever use in casual conversation. Great book and I highly recommend it.
I feel as though I need to apologize to an entire country for purchasing the wrong book. With limited space, I thought this one would pack well. Most of the things I need are not anywhere in this book or so difficult to find, my situation is over before I can get to the phrase. Buy a dictionary, it will serve you better. I have never needed to tell someone I was too drunk.
Didn't really know what I wanted when I ordered....just needed something to help with basic Polish phrases I might need or hear during local Polish Festivals...if not the best choice, it is very helpful.
I have been studying Polish off and on for the past year and a half. This little book has very concise info about Polish grammar and practical phrases.
I found it useful for specific words and phrases and by writing them down was able to get help. This language is very difficult for me -- so I was unable to say much -- but the book proved valuable.
I use this phrasebook as preparation for each trip and learn something new and useful each time. And it's compact size makes it easy to take it with me when going out to shops or restaurants.
This was a handy book to have on my visit to Poland. Polish is not an easy language but the Polish people are very friendly and helpful and the trip went great!
