If you've never considered traveling to Kenya then you almost certainly will change your mind after perusing this ebook. It covers almost every topic you can wish for providing extensive, useful and pleasantly entertaining information. The guide is lavishly illustrated with maps, people, towns, landscapes, fauna and flora. All images can be enlarged to full screen on an iPad in nearly HD detail.The only small whinge I had was the lack of a CONTENTS or Index making referencing pages difficult in this electronic version. If this was a worry then go buy the print edition. Alternatively bookmark pages you wish to refer to frequently.
I always enjoy the Discovery Channel Insight Guides when I travel with a group. I don't want to read about hotels and restaurants. I want to read about the place I am going. It was fascinating to read about the history of Kenya. It was not that long ago that Kenya was a British colony (independence in 1963). And this guide contains wonderful maps so I could follow where the guides were taking us.
I recently purchased this guide for a foreign study/medical mission trip to Kenya and of all the various types of travel books......this is by far my favorite! The pictures are beautiful and it reads more like a novel than a tourist guide. If you are really interested in getting to know Kenya in depth as opposed to just "skimming by" this is the book for you . I paid $22.95 at Barnes and Noble......all things considered....a great value!
In previous editions, there was a more fair listing of places to stay with different costs, not just a few very expensive ones. Also, the pictures were not as exceptional as they have previously been. Many are very ordinary.
