Invest Like A Pro: A 10-Day Investing Course
Download Free (EPUB, PDF)

Why another book on investing? Because you think it's a lot harder than it actually is. Because investing scares you, and it shouldn't. Because you should be investing and you aren't. Because you're investing incorrectly and it's costing you a lot of money. Because the average savings of a 50-year old is $43,000.This book is for you if you want to invest correctly (and enough!), but have zero interest in the complex stuff. This book is also for you if you're ready to take action.Once you've finished reading this book, you'll know more than most when it comes to investing. Most importantly, you'll know exactly what you need to do to invest successfully.

I am a tech-savvy, take-no-financial-risk kind of man. I have been making good money for the last 4 years (I have 15 years of experience working in my field), but for those 4 years I neglected saving, budgeting and investing. At the begining of this year started researching how to choose investing vehicles and investing options and I have read dozens of books and online courses that were either too complicated, or were clearly marketing brochures with grandiose delusions, until I found "Invest like a pro!"The book is a very down-to-earth, start-from-the-basics type of book. It is not a deep dive into investing technicalities, but it actually allowed me to understand enough to be able to choose the right options with confidence.Being an engineer, I was trying to understand and control every variable of the game, and waiting for the "right" moment to start investing, until I read this book and understood you only control a handful of variables, anybody who tells you that can "predict" the market simply does not understand the game (according to historic statistical data).

I came into this book with a lot of prior knowledge about investing, having already been convinced of boring passive index fund investing. If you fit that description, this book is not for you. Who is it for? If you know you should probably be thinking about investing but just want someone to simply tell you what to do, there aren't many shorter and simpler resources than this.Jesse Mecham (found of YNAB, the best budgeting software/system out there) structures this book as a 10 day overview of investing with actionable items each day. There are only a few pages of content each day so you don't get overwhelmed. If you are confused what the differences are between a 401k, IRA, and mutual fund, Jesse will help set things straight. If you just want it listed out what you should be doing, this is it. If you like to explore topics in depth, this may not be the book for you although it could be a decent primer to spark further study. The recommendations Jesse makes are solid and will put anybody on a better path to investing than what many other resources suggest.

Fun style of writing. However, the messages were simply this: start saving whatever you can as soon as you can, stocks are the riskiest investment, and don't try to outsmart the market - just stay the course. Absolutely no specifics about how to analyze a prospective investment.

A great beginning primer with some sound starter advice. If you're new to investing, it doesn't get much simpler than this. If you have done any amount of investing, then this is not what you're looking for.

This book is definitely useful, but I found "A Beginner's Guide to Investing" to be more thoroughly researched. For example, Betterment is the only brokerage discussed in this book and basically nothing is written about the components of a balanced investment portfolio (other than to open a Betterment account). That said, I still like this book because it's a quick read, offers great information, and helped me feel a lot more confident about opening up a brokerage account right away (which definitely counts for a lot in my book). I think this book should be read in addition to at least one other beginner's investment guide.

The book starts out: "You may know me as the guy that thinks everyone needs a budget. Or, that really good-looking guy."A few pages in and you will feel like this book is just a marketing ad for the author's website. I had to stop reading very early simply because I could not handle the poor attempts at humor and the poor writing in general. There are a lot of beginner investment books on the market and I HIGHLY recommend looking elsewhere. The first book I read was much more concise and felt genuine. Here's an investment tip for you: Save your $0.99 and pass on this book.

This book was very helpful for me, a new investor. I appreciated the overview of types of investments and the "vehicles" the investments "ride in". I checked out Mr. Mecham's recommended investment management firm and was so impressed I moved my investments. Also, check out YNAB (youneedabudget.com). It's life changing.

Thanks to Jesse's course, I went from not knowing an IRA from a BLT to rolling over an old 401k, setting up a target date retirement plan, and creating a short-term goal for a new house in just 10 short lessons. Now my wife and I are on track towards our financial goals and a huge burden has been lifted from my mind! This 10 days course breaks down the intimidating subject of investing to accessible, bite-sized chunks so that anyone can get their head around it. You will quickly see that you don't have to be a wolf of Wall Street to invest smartly and securely (in fact trying to be is likely to lose you more money in the long run!).Jesse's writing is very engaging, easy to understand, and his humor even made me laugh out loud a couple of times. I have lived for years knowing that I should have a retirement plan but the fear of investing poorly, losing it all, or paying someone to do it for us crippled me from taking the first step. This 10 days course will give you the information and confidence you need to start investing right away.Think of this little $0.99 book as the first investment toward your future!
